1. WHAT ARE DRUG CACTI ?
Drug Cacti are Cacti that contain drugs.
Another name is Mescaline Cacti.
Drugs are psychoactive substances, i.e. they affect the psyche.
The alkaloid Mescaline is probably the only truly psychoactive substance in Cacti.
Therefore, Drug Cacti are the same as Mescaline Cacti.

2. DRUG-CACTI AND THE OPIUM LAW
Drug-Cacti are not on list 1 or list 2 of the Dutch Opium Act.
This means that Drug Cacti can be freely grown, traded and transported in the Netherlands.
And also that Drug Cacti are not considered dangerous by the government.
Mescaline as a compound (substance) is, however, mentioned in the Opium Act in list 1.
Mescaline as a substance is therefore not allowed to be grown, traded or transported.

3. MESCALINE IN PLANTS: ESPECIALLY IN CACTI
In the plant world, the alkaloid mescaline is mainly found in cacti.
The Peyote Cactus and the San Pedro Cactus contain relatively high levels of Mescaline.

4. CACTI WITH LITTLE MESCALINE
There are many Cacti that contain little Mescaline.
From a Cactus with little Mescaline, you need a lot of Cactus tissue to get enough Mescaline for a trip.
Practically, preparing these Mescaline Cacti is difficult.

5. FALSE MESCALINE CACTI
The designation ‘false’ is used to indicate that a particular Mescaline Cactus is not the right one.

5.1 FALSE PEYOTE CACTI
Indian tribes in Mexico held great quests to collect and harvest Peyote Cacti.
In such a so-called Peyote hunt, it was important to harvest only Peyote plants, and no other Cacti.
The name False Peyote was given to many Cacti that contained (almost) no Mescaline.
Cacti that looked nothing like the Peyote Cactus externally were also given the name False Peyote.

5.2 FALSE SAN PEDRO CACTI
San Pedro Cacti that are not psychoactive are called False San Pedro Cacti.
This is to make it clear that these Cacti do not contain Mescaline.
So you cannot make a trip with these False San Pedro Cacti.
Actually, you cannot call an Echinopsis Cactus without Mescaline a San Pedro.
Because San Pedro is a name that refers to a mind-altering Cactus.
