MAKING CUTTINGS OF PEYOTE CACTI
CUTTINGS FROM PEYOTE CACTI
Small Peyote pups (new heads) sometimes grow on the side of the Peyote Cactus.
1. Cutting Peyote Cactus cuttings
You can carefully cut off such a baby Peyote with a knife.
Use a sharp knife, e.g. a small format break-off knife.
Hold the Peyote head to be cut off in the middle with your left fingers.
In your right hand, hold the knife by the handle.
Make a cutting movement with the knife.
While doing so, press as little as possible on the cutting blade.
2. Drying a cut Peyote cutting
Leave this mini-Peyote cutting to dry on its side for about 3 weeks.
During this time, the wound surface of the cut Peyote Cactus tissue can recover.
3. Transplanting a Peyote cutting
Put the Peyote cutting upright in a pot with dry Peyote Cactus soil.
Make sure one third of the Peyote cutting is under the soil.
After about four to six weeks, this potted Peyote cutting will make new roots.
4. Watering a Peyote cutting
Only then water the baby Peyote cutting.
Water the pot maximum half-full the first few times.
Water every fortnight.
